RAISE THE ROOF Campaign
Wonderful things take place under our roof. We need your help now to make it strong for the future.
Over the last few years, our church roof has deteriorated dramatically, and large sections of it have now reached the end of their useful lives. Water and moisture are seeping into the structure, and heat is leaking out. For the past year, a project team has been working diligently on specifications for a new roof. The time has come for us to commit ourselves to paying for the work that must be done.
The project team has recommended that the following be done immediately:
- Insulate and recover the Church sanctuary and the Christian Education building with metal shingles with an expected 50-year life; and
- Improve the insulation and drainage system for the flat roof over the offices, meeting rooms, and kitchen. This roof is estimated to have a further10-year life.
As a Green Church, we have chosen the most environmentally friendly and economically sound solution. Based on the bids received, the project team estimates the cost at $196,000.
Why Give?
Each one of us has a different connection with Cedar Park United and may value it for different reasons. For some of us, it is a constant in the changing phases of our lives, children baptized, Sunday school, youth group, weddings, a real centre of our community; for some, it is a real support in difficult times in our lives, through illness, bereavement, loss or emotional trauma; for some, it is where we find support in our search for meaning and in developing our understanding of how we and God fit together; for still others, it is a place to join like-minded Christians in reaching out to help others. Whatever the nature of our association with this Church, we value it because it makes a difference in our lives and in the lives of others.
Just as our motivations for being involved in Cedar Park United are many and varied, so are our financial means and life circumstances. Some of us will be able to give a significant amount to create a legacy for future generations at Cedar Park United; others may find it challenging to make even a modest contribution. There is no fixed amount or magic formula; it is your decision.
