What's New » New Project: Outreach and Social Justice Ministry
Montreal City Mission’s Project Refuge has welcomed three francophone teenagers from Tchad in Africa. Chemi is 15, Dadi is 16, and their sister is 14. We need a small group of people willing to offer some support. These young people do not need housing or legal adoption; they are living with their 23-year-old brother who is studying at Polytechnique. Cedar Park United Church has given these young people $200 to help purchase school supplies, but they also need French-speaking people who will befriend them, helping them to integrate into the society here and supporting them while they negotiate the crazy path of being a refugee, a stranger in a strange land. As the Scripture teaches us, when we welcome strangers we often welcome angels unaware. We would especially appreciate the involvement of people who are not already overcommitted to other work in the church. Please call the Church Office (514 695-3337) or speak with Sharon Moon for more information.
